When most local people worn out their Sunday catching up on splashing and laundry in the rolls at the sea, over six-hundred people stooped across poker tables at Daytona Beach Kennel Club trying to grab thousands of dollars in prizes and cash. The poker players were present for the 4th annual Deep Stack Charity Classic, which is a fundraiser for Congregation B’Nai Torah, Ormond Beach and many local charities the tabernacle supports.
But it was no cheap small town event. Poker pros had to pay 175 Dollar each for the favor of riding at one of the sixty tables, and they journeyed from throughout the nation for scopes to win a car worth $ 40,000, Orlando Magic floor seats, Rolex watches, — and a whole lot of prizes. The prize kitty topped $ 60,000, and added a 1st-place award of around $ 11,000 which added a $ 5,000 seat at a poker tournament in Las Vegas in July which paid out 2 million dollar in winnings previous year.
A chief organizer told that it is a great poker event which takes place to benefit charity.
