PHILLIPS CLUBS RAISES MONEY

One of the clubs that Dennis Phillips has played in the past is raising money for charity. The club hosts weekend poker events, during which top poker pros win millions of dollars. Some of the top poker players who have played at this club are Dennis Phillips, who participated in the World Series of Poker 2008 No Limit Texas Hold’em Event, and Darvin Moore, who was the runner up of the World Series of Poker 2009 Main Event.

The poker room, which focuses on raising funds for charity, has been home to exciting charity poker events ever since its launch. T. J. Cloutier, who has been inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame, organized a World Poker Tour (WPT) Boot Camp in its premises, during which professional players shared their poker experiences and knowledge.

PHILLIPS WANTS ENDURANCE TO COUNT

Dennis Phillips has said that he wants the endurance to also count as a factor in the poker tournaments. In making the 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event final table, Team PokerStars Pro Dennis Phillips had to endure eight 16-hour days on the felt.

He believes anything that requires that kind of endurance has to be considered a sport.

“It’s competition, it does take a skill level and you have to practice to improve, so yeah, I do consider poker a sport,” he said. “If you are at the World Series of Poker, and you are going to play eight days, 16 hours a day, every day, you do have to be physically prepared for it. You have to eat right, sleep right, and get mentally prepared just like any sport.”
